The Light of Awareness

Your astrology chart is a mirror of the invisible currents that are the river flow of your life… it is a movement within you.

Jyotiṣa, also known as Indian, Hindu, Tantric or Vedic astrology, is the sacred ancient Indian art of interpreting how patterns in the cosmos provide insight into the nature of the patterns of our lives. Widely considered to be the mother of all astrology, Jyotiṣa dates back to more than 5,000 years ago, and is a system of divination, of revealing the ‘unknown’, that has its origins deep in the explorations of inner and outer space.

Jyotisha allows us to understand ourselves in relation to time and place. It is a science that allows us remember our indivisibility, our seamless inseparability with the ultimate consciousness that we are.

A Map

Jyotiṣa is a language that describes the movement of Consciousness through the symbols of the heavens. It has the possibility to describe our experience of past, present and future with great variety, accuracy and vast vision. At its core, it is a spiritual science.

It can provide insight and clarity and knowledge about the major areas in our life so that we may work consciously with our karma. It offers insight into the mechanics of our destiny. Ultimately, it is a tool that helps us understand in which ways we can fully participate in the natural order of the Universe, with acceptance and greater ease.

Jyotiṣa is the exploration of inner and outer light.

We can seek out the light of jyotish for multiple reasons:

  • To consciously explore basic life themes: character and nature, health, family of origin, education, profession, finances, relationships, partnerships, children, travel, sexuality, spirituality, etc.
  • To understand the invisible currents that are already in movement within us, and become conscious of our own unique flavor of manifestation
  • To recognize the ways in which we limit ourself (self-reflection)
  • To explore how the larger cycles of time align with our personal astrology (transits)
  • Learn to work effectively with unsupportive patterns in our life
  • To invite greater flow in life transitions
  • To get some guidance about the forces at play in major life decisions
  • To reduce the struggle against ourselves by cultivating greater self-acceptance (don’t fight character)
  • To discover the impersonal patterns of karma that activate as our life
  • To promote spiritual transformation through understanding elements that might not be yet evident for us
  • To surrender to the natural intelligence at play through what we call the crisis and difficulties of our daily life
